Soma is a muscle relaxant used to treat pain caused by muscle spasms. Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with this medicine. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions including a history of liver or kidney problems, seizures, drug or other substance abuse, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. Contact your doctor or seek medical care right away if you develop severe weakness, paralysis of the arms or legs, severe dizziness, loss of coordination, vision changes (such as loss of vision, double vision), joint pain, or mental or mood changes (such as agitation, confusion, disorientation). DO NOT EXCEED THE RECOMMENDED DOSE or take this medicine for longer than 2 to 3 weeks without checking with your doctor. BEFORE YOU HAVE ANY MEDICAL OR DENTAL TREATMENTS, EMERGENCY CARE, OR SURGERY, tell the doctor or dentist that you are using this medicine. DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL while you are using this medicine. THIS MEDICINE WILL ADD TO THE EFFECTS of alcohol and other depressants (such as sleep medicines or tranquilizers). Ask your pharmacist if you have questions about which medicines are depressants. This medicine may cause drowsiness or dizziness. DO NOT DRIVE, operate machinery, or do anything else that could be dangerous until you know how you react to this medicine. Using this medicine alone, with other medicines, or with alcohol may lessen your ability to drive or to perform other potentially dangerous tasks. IF DIZZINESS OCCURS, sit up or stand slowly. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. Use this medicine with caution in the ELDERLY older than 65 years old; safety and effectiveness in these patients have not been confirmed. AN ALLERGIC REACTION TO THIS MEDICINE is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, or trouble breathing. If you notice any other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
